Atlanta Magazine Spotlights Decatur CD

Recently, the good folks at Atlanta magazine stopped by and chatted with DCD fearless leader (pictured above), Warren, about the state of the music industry. Some of the story below is dire, but some of it is also hopeful. At the end of the day, and the end of the article especially, it's an argument for why indie record stores need to exist in this busy day and age. Enjoy:

A little blog love from Paste

A couple weeks ago, Paste editor-in-chief Josh Jackson said some nice things about Decatur CD on the magazine's site. He also posted a touching letter from one of loyal regulars, Bruce. Our hearty thanks go out to both Josh and Bruce. You can read the post here.

Vote for Decatur CD in Creative Loafing's Best of Atlanta 2008 poll!

It's that time of the year again, folks. You were good to us last year, and we sure appreciated it. But your duty as responsible, local-business-loving folks requires you to once again thrown down in the Creative Loafing Best of Atlanta annual poll. There are a couple categories (CD store and used CD store, natch) that best apply to us, but if you want to write us in under "bikini wax" or "beer selection" (just kidding on the latter: you had better vote Brick Store!), that's fine too. We're pretty flexible.

Now, we know there are a TON (seriously, 299 in total) of voting categories, but you only have to vote in 10 to be counted. And hey, after you vote for us in the two CD categories (hint, hint, nudge, nudge...again), you only have eight more! But you should vote for a ton. We know you love stuff around this great city, so let your voice be heard! Vote here:

Decatur CD featured on Not For Tourists!

We received an e-mail the other day from the Not For Tourists people to alert us that we were featured on the site recently. Naturally, we're going to point you to it now, and not just because they call this website you're looking at right now an "excellent blog." All in all, it's quite a glowing write-up, and you can read it right here. If you look closely at the accompanying photo, you can spot Warren and Austin both hard at work. Fun stuff.

While we're on the topic, you should check out another great online city guide called Yelp. By and large, the users on Yelp are pretty experienced and know how to put their opinions into thoughtful words. And hey, if you feel like saying something nice about Decatur CD while you're there, well, don't let us stop you. Our page is located right here.

Thanks for anyone who's taken the time to written about us anywhere online. It means a lot, especially in today's world where many people prefer to research a business on the Internet before actually walking into it. We appreciate your words, and we'll do our best to continue living up to them.

You love us, you really love us!

Above: The cover of Eliot's album of the year, and also, love.

If you peruse the Internet as much as we do (and here's hoping you don't), you may have come across a couple things today. See, way back when, we asked that, if you felt so inclined, you stepped up and show your support for us, your good friends and fellow music obsessives here at Decatur CD. Well, you sure did, and here's how:

MyFOXAtlanta: Best Records and CDs store in Atlanta

Creative Loafing: Best Used CDs store in Atlanta

Needless to say, we are super proud. Thanks so much to everyone who voted for us. Rest assured, we will be showing our appreciation soon, so look forward to that. Have a lovely Thursday, everyone, and we'll see you soon...

Belated Blog Birthday

You probably didn't notice since we didn't either, but our blog had a birthday recently. Since we missed it, today's post marks the one year and one week anniversary of our online ramblings. If you see the Decatur CD blog out walking around on the street, do us a favor and pinch its cute little cheek. We remember our first post like it was yesterday, and we've come a long way since then, but our goal as of today is to post more often. Look forward to that. Leave a comment below if you have any suggestions as to what sort of stuff you'd like to read here. Otherwise, we're just going to keep posting nonsense on a regular basis. Thanks, everyone!
