Today, we celebrate the man, the myth, the legend, the Eliot Johnson. Today, he turns 22 years old. If you see that tall, blonde, perpetually band-shirt-clad knucklehead, be sure to wish him a happy birthday.

Rounding out our massive, four-day birthday extravaganza on Sunday afternoon were the fellas of Silver Lakes. Led by former Seely frontman and current Watershed sous chef Steven Satterfield, the band played several songs from Decatur CD fave, The Great Pretenders, and even debuted a couple of truly excellent new songs despite amplifier difficulty. It was a fitting end to a fun and sale/beer/live music-filled weekend. Thanks to all the performers who played and all the customers who came out. We had a blast. Here's to four(teen?) more years...

Richard Parsons/Georgia Fireflies photos

Our birthday celebration has begun. On Thursday night, Richard Parsons made his triumphant return to the DCD stage. And last night, Georgia Fireflies performed for a semi-rowdy Friday night crowd. Great times all around, and we've got the pictures to prove it. Don't forget that we have Romantica today at 2pm and Silver Lakes tomorrow at 4pm. And the sale and refreshments continue all weekend as well. Hope to see you soon...

Happy birthday to us. Today kicks off Decatur CD's 4th Birthday Extravaganza. To celebrate our first four years as your independent music retailer, we're hosting four days of live musical entertainment, refreshments and big savings.

Tonight, Richard Parsons plays at 7pm. Tomorrow, the Georgia Fireflies play at 7:30pm. Saturday, Romantica plays at 2pm. Sunday, Silver Lakes play at 4pm. These are all fantastic acts with differing sounds, so if you're unfamiliar, click on their links (which head straight to each of their respective MySpace pages, each with song samples) and have a listen. We're psyched to have so much talent in the store this weekend.

Additionally, we'll have our usual free refreshments, which will be varied and delicious. Oh, and we're having this thing where we mark down all the CDs and vinyl and DVDs in the store to ridiculous levels. A sale, they apparently call it? Yeah, that's it. EVERYTHING in the store is 20% off as of 6pm today. You can also get any of the first five Led Zeppelin albums for $10/piece, thanks to our pals at the Warner Music Group. AND, if you choose extra wisely, you may just end up with a free CD. But you'll have to ask us about that at the counter if you don't already know the details.

That's pretty much it. There is still a lot to do, so we're going to get to it, but we trust we'll see you soon. Until then...

Belated Blog Birthday

You probably didn't notice since we didn't either, but our blog had a birthday recently. Since we missed it, today's post marks the one year and one week anniversary of our online ramblings. If you see the Decatur CD blog out walking around on the street, do us a favor and pinch its cute little cheek. We remember our first post like it was yesterday, and we've come a long way since then, but our goal as of today is to post more often. Look forward to that. Leave a comment below if you have any suggestions as to what sort of stuff you'd like to read here. Otherwise, we're just going to keep posting nonsense on a regular basis. Thanks, everyone!
