Don't box us in.

Har har at our silly play-on phrases, right? More seriously though, our pals at Farthing Woodworks just last night built us a dandy new set of box set shelves. Although they're not exactly fully organized just yet, we suggest you stop by and have a look at the collection. It's much easier to peruse this way. See you soon...

Holiday Photos

Last week, we had a little fun with our friends Nicole Chillemi and Richard Parsons, who each performed in the store. Enjoy some photos from that night...

We had a special visitor recently.

On Thursday evening, a jolly fellow in red stopped by the store to spread joy to any and all children hanging out at Decatur CD. There were only two at the time (pictured above, naturally), but they had fun chatting about all the things they hoped to find under the tree this season. Turns out Santa is a big music fan as well, as he vowed to return soon with a shopping list in tow. We're hoping he makes it before Christmas, as he probably has a lot of deliveries this time of year.

Go see Slow Motion Crash tonight!

Our friend Emily's band, Slow Motion Crash, is playing tonight at The Earl (with Snowden and Forward, Russia!, no less), and we think you should go. Peep the flyer here, and check out the show tonight. You can visit the band's MySpace page to hear songs. Decatur CD will be representing, so be sure to say hello.

Decatur CD's new mascot

I'll be honest. During my time as Security Chicken, official mascot and bouncer of Decatur CD, I've seen a lot of things. But with the holidays and everything, I have to step up my game and be more than just a pretty face. As such, I'll be taking on a full-time security role soon, and in my place as the store's official mascot will be a little guy (pictured above) named Blue. Thanks to our good friend, Susan, we have this bug-eyed, smiley creature to keep us company. Say hello to him the next time you're in. But remember, The Security Chicken is always watching...

Under Construction

Our main carpenter man, Jack, has been hard at work here in the store lately. You may be asking yourself, as Tom Waits once did, "What's he building in there?" The simple and rather vague answer is "all sorts of neat things," but our bloggin' lips are sealed. Stop by sometime and see our new additions. Some are located in between the rock/pop racks and some of the others are located in the front windows. We're excited.

Feel like annihilating a year's worth of salary?

You probably expected us to ask you to spend it on CDs, but we'll let it slide just this once. Instead, check out a certain eBay auction our pals over at What We All Want reported on a few days ago. Some lucky fool stumbled across an original, acetate LP version of the Velvet Underground's first album. He purchased it for 75 cents and now it's up for sale. At the time of this post, the auction stands at a cool $36,599.99. Do us a favor, and as you folks check on it, leave a note in the comments as to how high the price tag has gotten. This one is going to be a monster:
