Rising Appalachia photos
Rising Appalachia finished its second Decatur CD in-store performance just moments ago. Enjoy some photos from this afternoon's event...
Decatur CD stands for "Decatur Compact Disc," but don't let the name fool you--we also stock tons of new and used vinyl, music-related DVDs/Blu-Rays and a smattering of cassettes. Most notably, however, we have one Travis Tritt cassingle.

Rising Appalachia sucks. Although, we shouldn't put the blame entirely upon them; after all, it takes a fanbase to provide ecouragement for a working band(or in this case "band"). So, it should be no suprise that the following that falls for their opaque whining appear to be the same socially maladjusted sweaty dirty old men that lurk around the contradance scene.
That's a shame you feel that way, anonymous; Rising Appalachia is one of our favorite local groups. It's a bigger shame that you were too chicken to sign your own comment.
I was just cruising thru the site appreciating all the good live music Warren/Decatur CD has brought and I noticed this unkind, post from "anonymous". Rising Appalachia (mostly duo with percussion & bass added as needed) has grown in matery of their instruments, amazing vocals and song writing. They've toured worldwide and freely lent their talents to many worthy causes, not the least of which is efforts to help residents of New Orleans.
Their parents play traditional music all around, including contra dances, but the older guy pictured sitting in on harmonica is neither a contradance guy, nor maladjusted, or dirty old man except in the best of terms.
These two women are some of the most talented people I have ever met. They are also big, big hearted and an inspiration to me. I'm proud to share the planet with them. And they ROCK!!!
