Alejandro Escovedo Videos

Some good folks who were in attendance on Monday posted portions of the Alejandro Escovedo in-store to YouTube, so if you weren't there, here's a chance to see what you missed! And if you were there, you can relive the magic at your leisure. Now, because Blogger and YouTube don't exactly get along, you may want to visit the channels of usernames gboutilier and WestTexas1119 to see better-quality versions of the clips. For now, we've embedded a couple of the best below:

Alejandro Escovedo Photos

All right, so maybe it's just "photo" for right now, but we'll have plenty more (plus video!) later in the week. For now, thanks to Eddie's Attic, Alejandro Escovedo, the many, many folks who came out tonight, and Magic Hat beer. It was a blast!

Alejandro Escovedo In-Store - Monday - 5 p.m.

Alejandro Escovedo will play here at 5 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 31st. We'll have some beer courtesy of our friends at Magic Hat. This man needs no introduction, but suffice it to say it's gonna be an excellent time. Hope to see you then!

Alejandro Escovedo at Eddie's Attic on Jan. 31

We have a little joke around the store that goes a little something like this: What Would Alejandro Do? You see, Warren is a huge fan of Alejandro Escovedo, dating back to his punk-rock days with The Nuns, and all the way up to last year's Street Songs of Love. And with good reason! After all, the guy's a musical treasure who's transcended genres repeatedly over the past 35+ years and will no doubt continue well into his sixties and beyond. Also, he is imminently quotable. Witness: "You can't be parochial about music," he says. "I learned that if you immerse yourself in something, listening to records over and over, so it becomes a language, you could learn to speak it. When I began to come of age, and was able to play the music, it became like a religion to me. We were fortunate that radio at that time had no boundaries. It was all brand new. No one knew you couldn't play Marvin Gaye, and then Captain Beefheart, and then Sun Ra. It was all great, and to me, it all made sense."

It is with no small responsibility, then, that we suggest—nay, demand!—that you attend Alejandro's upcoming show at Eddie's Attic on Jan. 31. He's a one of a kind and you'll be kicking yourself for weeks as we rub it in your face how great it was if you miss out. Know that he's also playing Eddie's on Jan. 30, but that one already sold out. So go on, get a ticket, and we'll see you there, all right? All right.

Alejandro Escovedo and JD Souther tickets

If you're subscribed to our newsletter (And if you're not, what's your excuse?!? Get at it on the right side of of this page!), you already know this. But in the interest of thorough blogeration, here's the short of it: JD Souther is playing Eddie's Attic on Feb. 15. We've got tickets and an autographed LP to give away for the show. Alejandro Escovedo is playing Eddie's Attic on April 14 and 15, and we've got tickets to sell. Read the long of it, straight from the newsletter, below.

And yes, that's Jimmy Carter above, kicking it with Alejandro at the Democratic National Convention.

Autographed LP/ticket giveaway:
JD Souther, who, according to his bio, "decided not to be a member of The Eagles, but wrote several of their biggest hits" (as well as Brian Wilson, Brooks & Dunn, Jimmy Buffett, Bonnie Raitt, the Dixies Chicks and many others) will play Eddie's Attic on Feb. 15 with April Smith. Tickets are $25 a piece, but we have some to giveaway. Stop by the store and drop your name and phone number off for a chance to win the grand prize, which includes a pair of tickets to the show and an autographed, vinyl copy of his new album, If the World was You. Runner-up winners will receive one of five additional tickets we're giving away to the show. Don't delay, though. That show, again, is this Sunday, Feb. 15.

Alejandro Escovedo at Eddie's Attic - April 14 & 15:
Speaking of Eddie's, Decatur CD hero Alejandro Escovedo will play a two-night stand there right as all the slackers are furiously shoving their tax returns into the already too-full post office. We have five pairs of tickets to sell for both nights, and they're $22.50 a pop. If you know Alejandro, you know these tickets will NOT last long. Warren attended his last performance at Eddie's (which also sold out in no time) and he describes it as "massively good." Get these tickets while you can, folks.

REMINDER: We have Alejandro tickets!

This went out in ye olde Decatur CD Newsletter as well, but we thought it important to remind y'all that we're selling tickets for Alejandro Escovedo's early show (6:30pm) on Jan. 10th at Eddie's Attic. However, we only have 10 tickets left, so if you want 'em, come get 'em. This is a show not to be missed.

Have a happy Saturday, everyone...
