Hey, who wants a free turntable?

On March 14, John Hiatt is coming to town to play the Atlanta Symphony Hall, and we've got a pretty extensive batch of prizes. Ten winners will receive a Dirty Jeans and Mudslide Hymns slip mat for their turntables. One winner will win a pair of tickets to the show (Did we mention Lyle Lovett will be there too? Because he will. Nice, right?) at Symphony Hall. And our grand prize winner gets a fancy Denon DP-300F turntable! This might be the best giveaway we've ever done. Big, big ups to our man Tommy at New West for setting up such load of musical treasures. Stop by soon to get your first name and phone number into the box. We've also got that new Hiatt on the listening station here at the store, by the way.

Emmylou Harris autographed guitar giveaway!

Above: The prize.

Check it out! Pardon the exclamation, but you can see above why we're excited! Our good friends at WEA recently dropped off a gorgeous Epiphone acoustic complete with Emmylou Harris' signature on it. We're gonna give that sucker away to some lucky Decatur CD customer, so stop by soon to drop your name and phone number into the official giveaway box. We're the only place in all of Georgia where you can win this awesome instrument, so don't miss out!

Above: The artistic shot.

Emmylou has a brand-spanking-new record out on Tuesday (June 10th) as well. It's called All I Intended to Be, and it's completely and fully approved by your good friends at Ye Olde DCD. Seriously, we think it's great, but you don't have to take our word for it. It's on one our listening stations right now, and you can listen to the entire record. That's how much we believe in it.

Above: The Eliot.

Meanwhile, the country-music legend is on tour right now, and making her way to Chastain on June 27 with support from Sam Bush, Jimmy Gaudreau and Moondi Klein. So, if an autographed guitar giveaway and a new album aren't enough to get your Emmylou fix, you can see her live at "Atlanta's favorite outdoor music experience." And if THAT is not enough for you, well, you have a problem. But we understand. After all, it's Emmylou!

The Puppini Sisters ticket giveaway

This one is for those of you who like concert tickets of the "completely free" variety. As of not too much earlier today, we've got one of those giveaway boxes on the counter. If you drop your first name and phone number in it, you'll reserve your chance to win a pair of tickets to see The Puppini Sisters at Georgia Tech's Ferst Center on August 29th. For those of you unfamiliar with the familial clan, the All Music Guide says it creates a "convincing homage to the heyday of vocal harmony pop in the '30s and '40s." Sounds like a fun night out to us.

Also (and if you're on our e-mail list or follow our MySpace page, you already know this), right next to that giveaway box we have another one for autographed liner notes from Garbage's recent retrospective, Absolute Garbage. Time's a wastin' and the only way you can win these great contests is by stopping by, so we'll see you soon...

New release Tuesday (3/20/07) + other stuff!

Phew. We have a ton to tell you, so let's get started, shall we? As you can see above, our listening stations are fully stocked and ready for, well, listening. With 16 CDs per station and three stations total, you can do the math and realize there is a ton of stuff for your ears to feast on. Two of the stations carry a mix of new and upcoming stuff that we like, and the third station is dedicated solely to local artists. All of it's great, though, so come in soon when you have some time on your hands. This has been a long-overdue project for the store, and we're very excited to have it up and running now.

We've also got some dandy giveaways to tell you about. Check 'em out, asterisk style:

* Sign up to win an autographed copy of Lucinda Williams' latest, West. We have the sign-up box right near the cash register.

* Want to see Snow Patrol at the Gwinett Arena on Wednesday? Well, hurry up if so, as we've got four tickets to give to whomever wants them. This goes to the first person who calls or shows up and asks. Good luck.

* Uncle Earl and Crooked Still are playing at Eddie's Attic on Thursday, and we've got half price ($5) tickets for sale. Stop by to get yours.

* Lately, we've been playing the heck out of Neil Young's latest live offering (that's the incredible-sounding one from Massey Hall for those of you keeping score at home), and now we have some lithographs to give to anyone who buys a copy.

Incidentally, tomorrow is also an awfully strong release day. Check out just a few of the great artists releasing new albums on Tuesday:
