Peter Case in-store performance

While you're enjoying the Decatur Book Festival next weekend, be sure to keep Decatur CD in mind. See, we'll be right down the street, doing the same thing we always do. Namely, providing awesome CDs and vinyl to all the good people of the Atlanta metro area (and some choice visitors from out of town). But something particularly exciting to remember is that we'll have the one and only Peter Case performing on Sunday, Sept. 2. Yep, the former member of The Plimsouls and current solo artist/author will play at Decatur CD at 5:30pm. The show is all ages and free, of course, and we'll be providing delicious high-gravity beer as per usual for the 21+ crowd. Mr. Case will be playing a special covers set for us, and it's not to be missed. Later in the evening, he'll play with another past DCD in-store artist, Tommy Womack, at Eddie's Attic. Fun day, right?

Tommy Womack in-store photos!

Another in-store performance, another set of photos. These come from one of our favorite Decatur CD events in recent memory, Tommy Womack playing the store this past Saturday. Not only did he perform several selections from his latest and greatest, There, I Said It!, but he even closed things out with a cover of Cheap Trick's "Surrender" that practically tore his vocal chords asunder. All this while wearing a bathrobe. Said Tommy's tour manager, "Yeah, it was weird... He just woke up and stumbled out into the van. He's been wearing that thing all day." We wouldn't have had it any other way. Thanks to all of you that came out!

Tommy Womack in-store performance TOMORROW

We had such a great time last night when Blake Guthrie played here (photos coming, by the way) that we're going to have another in-store tomorrow. At 2pm on Saturday, Tommy Womack will be here, and we're quite excited. Tommy just put out a new album, There, I Said It!, and we've been playing it a lot here in the store because it's filled with the passionate, sometimes-hilarious, rambling singer/songwriter fare the likes of which Todd Snider and Will Kimbrough would be proud of. Fitting, since both of those guys are friends of Tommy's, and they've all played in each other band's on each other's records for some time. Check out Tommy's MySpace page (linked above) for some songs if you haven't heard his stuff, then read this cover story in the Nashville Scene to learn the story behind his latest release.

Tommy will be playing Eddie's Attic later in the evening with local faves of ours, Rising Appalachia. We'll be selling tickets for $8 (they're $15 at the door), so be sure to get one from us if you're planning on attending the show.
