Record Store Day photos

It was a long day, and a longer week cleaning up and reorganizing after it, but we're not complaining in the least. Record Store Day was a blast! Check out our photos:

Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Swing Set himself, Alex Brenner.

Straight outta Decatur...Warm in the Wake.

Blake Guthrie and Nicole Chillemi make their world premiere on stage together...covering Tom Waits, no less! We were honored to witness their first collaborative performance.

One beard to rule them all, one beard to find them, one beard to bring them all and in the darkness bind them: Richard Parsons.

That's a nice rifle you're sporting, but it sure don't beat our Pistolero.

And then there's Warren. After a full day of Record Storing, he likes to dress up in receipt tape and dance around all by his lonesome. This time we caught it on camera.

Blake Guthrie in-store photos!

Although it feels like it was ages ago, last Thursday, Blake Guthrie braved the hurricane-esque weather conditions in downtown Decatur to impress us with his songwriting ability. Luckily, we had some delicious beer from Twain's to make us feel better about the rain. He played a rootsy version of The Velvet Underground's "Femme Fatale" as well, which sure didn't hurt anything. Enjoy the photos...

Blake Guthrie and FREE beer from Twain's on Thursday!

Boy, have we got a treat for ya'll this Thursday night. Local singer/songwriter Blake Guthrie will be stopping by to play a few songs for us at 7pm. Check out his MySpace page (linked on his name, natch) for some tunes, or take a look at how he describes his sound: "Lou Reed with a better voice. Jonathan Richman without the sinus problem. Springsteen if he wasn't from Jersey."

Not one for having music without tasty refreshments, we've talked with our kind and generous friends at Twain's, and they've agreed to donate some beverages for the event. As such, we'll have a delicious (and completely FREE) keg of Sleepy Conscience ESB for everyone 21 years and older. A medium body, well-rounded brew made locally at Twain's, this beer's name was inspired by the following Mark Twain quote: "Good friends, good books and a sleepy conscience: This is the ideal life." We're inclined to agree. See you then!
