General Orders No. 9 Party at Gallery 515

This Thursday, March 22, Gallery 515 is hosting a party for our buddy Bob Persons' film, General Orders No. 9. Laura's got a great space there, and she promises "an exhibition of limited edition prints, key images from the film, DVDs, books, and original antique maps. The filmmaker and artist will be on hand for discussion. Exhibit will be up through Saturday April 7. The usual libations and nibbles will be served but I think that's assumed and understood." We've also got the DVD in stock now.

Record Store Day 2012: Save the Date!

You had a blast last year. Picked up some rare vinyl. Watched Young Eliot's lightning-fast pen hand jot down orders at the speed of light. Chatted with music loving pals. Listened to Warren wax philosophic about the record industry. Drank a cold beer. Witnessed Austin pulling his beard hairs out. It was a great time, right? Well, mark your calendars, fun lovers. Saturday, April 21 is the big RSD this year. There are something like eleventy quillion releases coming, many from artists you know and love (more on that in the coming weeks), and we plan to participate fully. Who knows? We may even have a surprise or two up our sleeve. For now, save the date and stay tuned!

Hey, who wants a free turntable?

On March 14, John Hiatt is coming to town to play the Atlanta Symphony Hall, and we've got a pretty extensive batch of prizes. Ten winners will receive a Dirty Jeans and Mudslide Hymns slip mat for their turntables. One winner will win a pair of tickets to the show (Did we mention Lyle Lovett will be there too? Because he will. Nice, right?) at Symphony Hall. And our grand prize winner gets a fancy Denon DP-300F turntable! This might be the best giveaway we've ever done. Big, big ups to our man Tommy at New West for setting up such load of musical treasures. Stop by soon to get your first name and phone number into the box. We've also got that new Hiatt on the listening station here at the store, by the way.
