Stephin Merritt gets awkward on Fox 5
Just recently, Stephin Merritt (of Magnetic Fields) was in town promoting music from the Lemony Snicket audio books that his other band, the Gothic Archies, performed. While in Atlanta, he stopped by Fox 5 Atlanta for one of the most uncomfortable interviews ever. Yikes. I had to stop watching the Fox5 clip after a minute because it was too awkward and uncomfortable. I lurrrrve me some Stephin Merritt, but on a morning TV show...oh, dear. I went to the Lemony Snicket appearance last week at the Ferst Center, and it was awesome and totally nerdy! He and Snick--I mean, Daniel Handler (of course, Mr. Snicket couldn't make it at the last minute...heh) were a good team on stage. I was bummed that Stephin didn't play more, but oh well. I was surprised that he agreed to sign CD's afterwards. It was funny to watch him interact with young children. And I'm sure someone had a good laugh at me interacting with him, too. I was a flustered lil' fan girl! The Magnetic Fields are my favorite band. Sigh.
Here's hoping you weren't as cheeseball as that news anchor. Then again, he's very difficult to top.
